As a member of an interprofessional health-care team, a Personal Support Worker (PSW) provides supportive person-centred care across the lifespan to individuals and families, at various levels of health and well-being, in a variety of care environments including: long-term, community and/or hospital care settings. Conestoga’s PSW program prepares students to become preferred graduates for the profession; one that truly makes a difference in the lives of others.
Practical Nursing is a career-focused program where the student will gain the knowledge, skills and experience required to become a member of the nursing profession and health-care team. The foundational knowledge for practical nursing is based on scientific theory from nursing, the physical and psychosocial sciences and humanities. Person-centred, population-focused care is learned in context through real-life experiences and career-related placements. Seniors care is given special attention to meet the demands of an aging population.
