A shortage of Personal Support Workers in the region has piqued Confederation College’s interest. Hospital beds are full or near-full in Kenora, Dryden and Sioux Lookout, and long-term care facilities in the district are struggling to find staff to work in the PSW field. Algonquin College and The Perley and Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre have entered a formal partnership that will see the creation of a ground-breaking health-care classroom and learning environment. The two institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding today that outlines the joint plans to create and consult on the delivery of educational programs, clinical services and research initiatives.
